Here we grow again!

Shop Updates

Don't believe everything that you see the pictures of the shop have to be updated again!  We have expanded into the old storage area and the place looks like it grew 100%.  The parking area at the back of the shop is taking shape, soon you will be able to drive around the building with a boat and trailer.  The fly fishing selection is growing, I have found some great components that when put together have great balance and fish-ability.  The extra space is filling quickly.  One of the local guides has been supplying some great tandem streamers, we now have the best selection of Joe Jack hand tied streamers in the area.

Company History

Unc'L Lunkers was opened on July 17th, 2006 in Bridgton Maine.  The building got a partial face lift prior to opening, the ceiling was raised, the floors stripped and polished, the fixtures brought in and stocked.  The store started with way to little inventory, no where near the selection of equipment that should have been in stock and an owner who was new at the cash register.  By a stroke of luck I was able to buy out a bait shop that had gone out of business, this helped to get Unc'L Lunkers off the ground.  I was amazed at the varity of equipment that is available for all types of fishing.  The customers that have been in over the first few weeks have got some great bargains as I am learning the business.  I will keep the bargains available.  The first rainy Saturday was very slow, I was the only one in the shop the whole day.  Funny how that happens, as the shop is becoming more well known the business has been picking up.  I have created some great vendor relationships and I am cautious when purchasing the equipment.  The shop is slowly evolving as more equipment is arriving, and more of the local craftsmen are asking to display items in the shop.

Customer testimonials
Of course this has to be taken with a grain of salt since I am the one doing the actual write up.  One of the first customers to the shop stopped in on his last day on the lake asking for something new that would work in Highland Lake.  He had fished all day week long and was getting nothing big.  I gave him an Enforcer G4 Chartruese Glitter tube with a red jig head to give the tube a little contrast.  About an hour later I see this car come flying to the store, the guy jumps out.  Of course I am wondering what did I do wrong.  He comes into the store and tells me that he caught 5 big bass in a hour and he wanted to thank me for helping him out.  He also sent his buddy from across the water in for the same lure.  (BTW:  I like them too)

Dear Unc 'L Lunker I have vacationed (i.e. fished)up on Highland lake with my family and friends
over the years and always thought that the only thing that was missing was a bait and tackle shop
close to the lake. Thanks for opening one up! It's about time!

Bridgton has needed a Bait and Tackle shop for a long time.  Best of luck to you.
By the way even with the heat, I did very well this summer (first two weeks in Aug)
I brought in (and put back) 10 bass over 20 inches in Highland Lake.
